The Rice Kingdom Tales: The Big Rain Problem
The Big Rain Problem
It was a bright morning in Rice Land. The sun shone warm on the green rice fields. Birds sang in the trees. Farmers worked hard in the fields. They checked the water levels. They made sure the rice grew well.
Sir Rice-a-Lot walked through the village. He spoke with the farmers. He asked if everything was okay. Everyone said yes. The rice looked healthy. The fields were full of promise.
But Mrs. Green had a worry. She looked at the sky. Dark clouds were coming. She called Sir Rice-a-Lot. She told him about the rain.
"The storm will be very big," she said. "We must prepare."
Sir Rice-a-Lot nodded. He knew what to do. He called the Rice Guardians. He called the friends from Soggy Swamp too. General Grumble came with his people. They all gathered in the village square.
"We need to work together," Sir Rice-a-Lot said. "The rain could hurt our rice fields. We must protect them."
General Grumble agreed. He remembered how they used to fight. Now they were friends. They helped each other.
Lenny the small lizard was there too. He had helped before. He wanted to help again. He stood on a rock so everyone could see him.
"I have an idea," Lenny said. "We can dig small channels. The water will flow away from the rice. It will not flood the fields."
The farmers liked the idea. They knew it would work. But they needed many hands. Many people to dig.
"We will do it together," General Grumble said. "My people will help."
Everyone got to work. Some people dug channels. Some people moved rocks. Some people carried tools. Timmy brought water for everyone to drink. He made sure no one got tired.
The work was hard. The ground was wet and heavy. But no one gave up. They talked and laughed as they worked. They shared stories. They learned about each other.
Mrs. Green watched from the side. She smiled. This was what she hoped for. Two communities working as one. No fighting. Just helping.
By noon, the channels were done. The work was finished. Everyone rested under the trees. They ate food together. They shared rice dishes from both lands.
Then the rain began to fall. It started soft. Then it got heavier. The wind blew hard. The thunder rumbled loud.
Everyone worried. Would the channels work? Would the rice be safe?
They went to the fields. They watched the water flow. It went into the channels. It did not flood the rice. The rice stayed dry. The rice stayed safe.
The people cheered. They hugged each other. They felt happy and proud. But not proud in a bad way. They felt good because they worked together.
Lenny felt special. His idea saved the rice. But he knew it was not just him. Everyone helped. Everyone mattered.
"We did it," Timmy said. "Together."
"Yes," Sir Rice-a-Lot said. "Together is how we win."
General Grumble looked at his people. He looked at the Rice Land people. He felt grateful. Before, he wanted to take their rice. Now he wanted to share.
"This is better," he said. "Sharing is better than taking."
Mrs. Green nodded. She was glad to hear this. She had hoped for this change.
The rain stopped after a few hours. The sun came out again. The fields looked good. The rice was safe.
Everyone planned to meet again tomorrow. They would check the fields. They would fix any damage. They would keep working together.
Lenny went home with Timmy. They talked about what happened. They talked about what to do next.
"You are very smart," Timmy said to Lenny. "Your idea was great."
Lenny smiled. "We all helped," he said. "I just had the idea. You all did the work."
Timmy shook his head. "No. Your idea started it. Without it, we would not have known what to do."
They walked to the village. They saw the rice fields. They saw the channels. They saw the happy people.
That night, the village had a small party. They did not need a big festival. They just needed to thank each other. They shared food. They shared stories. They shared smiles.
Sir Rice-a-Lot spoke to everyone. He thanked General Grumble. He thanked the Soggy Swamp people. He thanked Lenny. He thanked all the farmers.
"Today showed us something important," he said. "We are stronger together. We can solve hard problems when we work as friends."
General Grumble stood up. He thanked Sir Rice-a-Lot. He thanked the Rice Guardians. He thanked everyone for trusting him.
"I was wrong before," he said. "I thought I had to take. Now I know I should share. Thank you for showing me."
The people clapped. They felt happy. They felt united.
Lenny sat with Timmy. They ate rice cakes. They talked about the future.
"What will we do next?" Timmy asked.
"I do not know," Lenny said. "But whatever it is, we will do it together."
Timmy smiled. "Yes. Together."
The stars came out. The moon shone bright. Rice Land was safe. Soggy Swamp was safe. Both places were friends.
The people went to sleep. They dreamed of good things. They dreamed of more help. They dreamed of more friendship.
Tomorrow would bring new days. New work. New chances to help each other.
And that was enough.
